Lip surgery "Kesselring" is a procedure to increase the lips by excising a strip of the dermis and turning out the inside of the upper and lower lips.
This technique of lip correction is indicated for patients with a deficiency of the mucous membrane used in other types of cheiloplasty. The lack of sufficient volume of mucosa does not allow you to move it without damage.
With the help of lip plastics according to the Kesselring method, the following aesthetic defects can be corrected:
Lip correction according to the "Kesselring" method can be carried out both separately on the upper or lower lip, and on two lips at the same time.
The technique of excision of a strip of skin varies depending on the area being corrected:
Lip surgery according to Kesselring is performed under local anesthesia.
The duration of the procedure on average is about 30 min. Immediately before the procedure, the doctor applies a special marking that determines the width of the skin band to be removed. After the onset of the full effect of anesthesia, a small skin strip is excised (when correcting the upper lip - above the border, when correcting the lower - under it). Then, to give volume, the surgeon turns the border slightly. Next, the edges of the incision are gradually stitched together. First, the edges are tightened with dense threads, which allows the surgeon to assess the degree of tension of the skin and eliminate its excessive tension. A thin thread is then used to match the edges more accurately. The suture is performed strictly according to the natural contour of the lips.
This technique allows you to achieve the most natural result and make postoperative sutures invisible.
Heiloplasty by the Kesselring method does not require a long stationary stay of the patient. Subject to simple rules of rehabilitation and postoperative care, the achieved result is fixed for life. In the first few days after the correction, the intake of solid, too hot / cold food should be limited. It is recommended to use products in a liquid and warm state (for example, cereals, kefirs, yogurts). Within a few days, it is necessary to regularly disinfect the sutures, for this the patient must rinse the oral cavity with antiseptic solutions.
